Graphene films clear major fabrication hurdle (4/10/2010)

Graphene films clear major fabrication hurdle Researchers at Berkeley Lab's Molecular Foundry have successfully used direct chemical vapor deposition to synthesize single-layer graphene films on dielectric substrates. This represents a major step towards future applications of graphene in both the electronics and the photonics industries, starting with superfast transistors and computer memory chips. ...> Full Article

New graphene 'nanomesh' could change the future of electronics (3/6/2010)

In a new study to be published in Nature Nanotechnology, UCLA Engineering professor Yu Huang reveals the creation of a new graphene nanostructure called the graphene nanomesh (GNM). The new structure is able to open up a band gap in a large sheet of graphene to create a highly uniform continuous semiconducting thin film. The concept of the GNM therefore points to a clear pathway towards practical application of graphene as a semiconductor material for future electronics. ...> Full Article

Single-step technique produces both p-type and n-type doping for future graphene devices (2/16/2010)

Single-step technique produces both p-type and n-type doping for future graphene devices A simple one-step process that produces both n-type and p-type doping of large-area graphene surfaces could facilitate use of the promising material for future electronic devices. The doping technique can also be used to increase conductivity in graphene nanoribbons used for interconnects. ...> Full Article
